Reuben Watt finds a vision of the Church in Tallinn

I was lucky enough, recently, to officiate at the first ever Tallinn Open Women’s tennis event in Estonia. I had never been to Estonia but, for some reason, it was one of the places that I wanted to go to.

Tallinn, where I was based, was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 1997, with it being home to one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. The cobbled streets, the castle walls, the old buildings and the architecture is all surely worth the visit in themselves.

However, one evening whilst heading into the old town I came across a robot. A robot on four wheels. A robot that was delivering food. A robot that was waiting at the traffic lights for the green person to appear.

It was very strange. Yet here we have, in the middle of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the home of this innovative, and in my opinion a very exciting, way of doing food deliveries…

Reuben Watt is the Immediate-Past Moderator of the United Reformed Church’s Youth Assembly. He also provides technical support to iChurch, which provides websites to local churches
