Key local services thrive at Skipton’s community café, finds Laurence Wareing
Setting up the Skipton Community Wellbeing Café was never at the top of St Andrew’s to-do list. In fact, it wasn’t on their to-do list at all until, in the summer of 2018, a local charity lost its funding to run a community café that focused on individuals with mental health issues. Peter Smith recalls that, collectively, local Christians said, ‘This is not good’. Almost immediately, St Andrew’s, a Methodist-URC local ecumenical partnership, teamed up with Skipton Baptist Church to fill this significant gap in local community services.
