Isaac Harvey overcomes troubled times

Will you gain anything if you win the whole world but lose your life?’ This question is taken from the Bible, Matthew 16:26, from the Good News version.

I had read this verse at a church service, supporting my cousin who was preaching earlier this year. My mum has always made sure, whether I liked it or not, that when it came to reading I had to do it properly. I had to go over the passage multiple times in my head as well as reading it out loud.

I understood that this was to make sure that all of the congregation could hear what I had to say but it would always make me question why I was doing it! I am grateful, however, because it has made me a better public speaker to this day.

As I was going through this reading from Matthew, the question that Jesus asks kept jumping out at me. It made me reflect on my life, as it is a question I answered when I was going through mental health difficulties…
