Over Holy Week, Geoff Felton, Moderator of the URC Mersey Synod, led a pilgrimage of prayer across the Synod. Some congregations along the route joined parts of the walk, while others offered refreshments. What follows is Geoff’s daily log

Day 1: Southport
The day began with drizzle and a chilling wind as the intrepid pilgrims set off from Churchtown Village URC on the outskirts of Southport and headed across Southport to Lord Street West, a URC/Methodist LEP in the heart of the town.

On our way we stopped to pray for Leyland Methodist Church, the now-closed St George’s URC, and the town of Southport as it puts behind it the cold, grey winter days and looks ahead to the busy summer season….
