As soon as Jesus launched into public ministry, he ran into opposition. Clearly there would be serious collisions ahead. The imprisonment and death of John the Baptist were a sign of what happened to wayward prophets, and Jesus was walking the same path. So as he stepped forward, Jesus thought deeply about his fate and about what it might mean for him and for others. Seven of his sayings help to show the impact the cross had on him, and the pain and purpose that he saw in it….
