Famous in the 1920s, and again in the 1980s, Eric Liddell is slipping from public consciousness. Laurence Wareing reports on a campaign to reclaim his memory

As CEO of the Eric Liddell Community in Edinburgh, John MacMillan was tasked with promoting the elderly care and dementia work of a city-wide charity named after one of Edinburgh’s famous sons. It was set up in 1980 by members of a former Church of Scotland congregation, which worked in partnership with three neighbouring congregations at ‘Holy Corner’, a busy city crossroads. One of those congregations, now Morningside United Church, was Liddell’s home church…
