Media coverage of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September was dominated, inevitably, by what political leaders had to say about the Middle East conflicts, and what Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, had to say about the UN.
Largely unreported was a report by Professor Nazila Ghanea, the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief. Echoing the session’s overarching theme of ‘unity in diversity’, her report focussed on the rights of all to peace and the way peace interconnects with freedom of religion or belief…
