I have been spending some time in the past. In my attic I discovered a slide show I prepared for my parents’ diamond wedding in 1985. 140 slides celebrating what we, as an extended family, had inherited from my parents. I had them converted into a gallery on the computer and my commentary also transferred. It is a treasure. Apart from inherited traditions for the celebration of Christmas, Easter and birthdays, at the heart is my parents’ conviction that spending time with family was one of the real blessings of life – not a duty, and often associated with holidays. Among the delightful snapshots of sunny picnics, of wet but triumphant groups on the top of hills, there are the conversations while knitting, the sharing of life’s joys and sorrows….
