Colin’s corner - Reform Magazine

We remember Colin Richards, who died in January, having supplied puzzles and columns to Reform for six decades. Those who worked with him share their stories

Colin approached me in 1997 to edit the daily newsletter at the annual Council for World Mission Holiday Conference, ‘Window on the World’, which took place at The Hayes Conference Centre in Swanwick, Derbyshire. The brief was simple: to produce a daily newsletter that included a review of the morning’s keynote address and Bible study, notices for the myriad events that took place throughout the week – and to be funny too. It meant long hours, sometimes working until four in the morning, but because Colin was involved it was always fun.

Unsurprisingly, he produced the daily crossword in the newsletter around the theme of the conference. Colin would bring the family and his risograph, a high-speed printer which produced the A3 sheets that were then folded and delivered to the rooms of the participants…
